Ampersand

Findhorn Moray 2017

Located in a conservation area, the original structure of Ampersand dates to 1821.  Renovation work is most apparent internally as the building’s footprint remains unchanged.  Alterations to internal partitions and openings have given rise to a transformed spaciousness in the house. This provides the improved accessibility required by the client and unique natural light levels for a traditional cottage.  Key materials like insulation were specified on the basis of their compatibility with the original building; such choices being vital in improving energy performance, building health and conservation of the existing structure.
